PHOTOS: New Scaffolding Erected for Attraction's Water Tower at Tiana's Bayou Adventure

A new tall scaffolding structure has been set up on the former Splash Mountain

A new tall scaffolding structure has been set up on the former Splash Mountain façade for a water tower at Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

We spied a new scaffolding structure on Splash Mountain as it's being reimagined into Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

More metal framing and platforms were added to the front front of the mountain as well.

The rectangular structure on the right has been built to facilitate the addition of a water tower on the attraction's façade.

The structure is much taller than the surrounding scaffolding.

Several ladders lead up to to platforms. In this photo, the new scaffolding for the water tower stands tall on the left.

The mountain is covered in in a maze of scaffolding, including ladders, platforms, and tarps to aid the construction crew in their work. The workers recently added additional greenery to this section of the mountain as well.

Not much has changed in the flume over the last several days.

Metal stairways are still positioned in the flume to assist the construction crew with traversing the space.

The new rockwork has been shaped and painted. In addition, new concrete was poured and painted along the flume's edge.

The track in this section is also new.

A few weeks ago, we spotted a ride envelope on site to test that the new rockwork was not a danger to guests on the ride.

Strings of lights are still visible in the tunnel beneath the bridge.

Scaffolding, fencing, and stairways are temporarily in place to assist the crew.

The queue looks largely the same as our last update.

The dirt pile from renovating the barn's floor is still in the path.

We’re still not sure what is contained in the white and red box. It hasn't been opened yet. If you have any ideas as to what's inside, we’d love to see them in the comments.

The plywood pile we recently reported has not yet been used. A dolly is ready for the crew.

The barn's entrance is still covered with black fabric. A blue gate also stands at the entrance, along with a safety pylon, otherwise known as a traffic cone.

Yesterday we reported a new canopy had been installed in the attraction's scaffolding along the side. Today it is removed.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be replacing Splash Mountain, which closed in January 2023 at Magic Kingdom. Check out our photos and video from "the last splash" and read our complete history of Splash Mountain. The ride will permanently close on May 31 at Disneyland.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure invites guests to embark on a thrilling voyage, influenced by the beloved film, "The Princess and the Frog." It picks up after the events of the film and includes characters new and old.

According to the official release, guests will "join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis during Mardi Gras season as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration for the people of New Orleans." The story will feature Louis and a few other good friends enjoying zydeco, a musical fusion of rhythm and blues native to Louisiana.

The new attraction will take place inside Tiana's Foods, a co-op that helps provide food for the community. Founded in 1927 by Tiana, the co-op is located within a salt mine, where cultivators grow crops along the former path of Splash Mountain's waters. Visitors will ascend through a mill house that is constructed into the mountainside, enjoying the sights and sounds of the Louisiana bayou.
